Accessories manufacturer Kondor Blue just released its Sony a7S III cage that features a ton of 1/4″-20 & 3/8″-16 mounting points, built-in NATO rails on top and left sides of the cage, an HDMI cable protector, and so on. Let’s check it out.

After Tilta, SHAPE, SmallRig, and CAME-TV, Kondor Blue launched its cage and rigging solutions for the Sony a7S III. If you’re new to Kondor Blue, we already talked about their accessories for the Panasonic Lumix S1H here and Canon EOS R5/R6 here. The company is mostly known for making high-quality rigging solutions for filmmakers at an affordable price.

Kondor Blue Sony a7S III Cage Features

Like every Kondor Blue cage, this cage for the Sony a7S III is made out of metal. There are over a lot of 1/4″-20 and a couple of 3/8″-16 threaded holes all around the cage as well as some ARRI standard accessory mounting points. Also, there’s a cold shoe mount on the cage’s left side.

Like the Kondor Blue cages for the Canon EOS R5/R6, this version attaches to your a7S III via an Arca Swiss quick release plate. It allows you to slide your camera into the cage and lock it in place via the lever. There’s a safety pin, so your camera can’t come out of the cage if you forgot to lock the level.

There are two 1/4-20″ and one 3/8″-16 mounting points at the bottom of the cage. A built-in magnetic hex wrench in front of the cage will help you remove the Arca Swiss quick release plate from the camera.

You’ll find Nato rails to mount accessories/handles quickly on the left side and the top of the cage. The cage also comes with an HDMI & USB cable clamp to protect the camera’s full-size HDMI and USB Type-C connectors from unwanted stress.

What’s nice is that the cage doesn’t obstruct any dials/ports of the camera. Also, it is compatible with Sony’s XLR-K3M dual channel digital XLR audio adapter kit.

Universal Handle

This Sony a7S III cage is compatible with the company’s Universal Handle that can trigger your recording via a red start/stop button on top of the handle. Of course, you’ll need a cable between the Kondor Blue Universal Handle and your camera to access this function.

Price and Availability

The Kondor Blue Sony a7S III cage is available for pre-order now for $119.99. A bundle with the Universal Handle retails for $189.99.
